At 13:10 , you said in logistic regression the value of y is between 0 and 1, so why are we doing log(y/1-y) which will make the range between -inf to +inf? Don't we want the value of c+b1x1+b2x2 and the rhs between 0 and 1?

Hi Pragun, the logistic function(on which this algorithm is based) is a Sigmoid function, whose graph is an S-Curve and the mathematical expression is the one that has been used . Log is used to make a complex calculation easier, then you take an antilog in the end and obtain the RHS between 0 and 1.

Hi, I was wondering for your video at timing 26.01, how did you derive the values 0.9849/1.9849? I have tried to apply the formula with the sample values you have shown in the video and I seems to unable to derive the value you have stated. The formula I have applied is: 1 / 1 + e^-(b0 + b1*x1 + b2*x2)

Hey Teoh, This is happening because you're missing out a set of parenthesis in the denominator of the formula. Try inserting the brackets and see if you get the correct results. Hope this helps!

The explanation is very clear. A great learning material. Would be great if you get a chance to deep dive into data preparation and handling missing values and unclean data. Also some insights on how to deal with multicollinearity would help. But overall, a great starting point. Loved it!

Logistic regression is a statistical method for analyzing a dataset in which there are one or more independent variables that determine an outcome. The outcome is measured with a dichotomous variable (in which there are only two possible outcomes).

Hey, sorry for the delay. So, whenever you fit a logistic regression model, you get an output column in the name of 'parameter estimate'. The value of the coefficient for a particular variable is present against the corresponding variable. This process of coefficient calcuation takes place with the help of maximum likelihood estimation but in the backend. Hope this helps. Cheers!
