What is STUDENT EXCHANGE PROGRAM? What does STUDENT EXCHANGE PROGRAM mean? STUDENT EXCHANGE PROGRAM meaning - STUDENT EXCHANGE PROGRAM definition - STUDENT EXCHANGE PROGRAM explanation. Source: Wikipedia.org article, adapted under https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/ license. A student exchange program is a program in which students from a secondary school or university study abroad at one of their institution's partner institutions. A student exchange program may involve international travel, but does not necessarily require the student to study outside of his or her home country. For example, the National Student Exchange program (NSE) offers placements throughout the United States and Canada. Foreign exchange programs provides students with an opportunity to study in a different country and environment experiencing the history and culture of another country. The term "exchange" means that a partner institution accepts a student, but does not necessarily mean that the students have to find a counterpart from the other institution with whom to exchange. Exchange students live with a host family or in a designated place such as a hostel, an apartment, or a student lodging. Costs for the program vary by the country and institution. Participants fund their participation via scholarships, loans, or self-funding. Student exchanges became popular after World War II, and are intended to increase the participants' understanding and tolerance of other cultures, as well as improving their language skills and broadening their social horizons. Student exchanges also increased further after the end of the Cold War. An exchange student typically stays in the host country for a period of 6 to 10 months. International students or those on study abroad programs may stay in the host country for several years. Some exchange programs also offer academic credit.

Over the 2013-2014 school year I got to know one of my school's foreign exchange students from the Czech Republic. Matej was an awesome dude, and it was pretty cool getting to know someone who was literally from the other side of the world. Anyway, I thought it'd be cool to film an interview with him so I could see what he really thought of the US, so I did. Also, I made sure to film it on one of his last days in America so he would actually give his real opinions.

A true exchange between students from Vadodara, India and Arcata, California... It was truely a absolutely awsome experience. I never had even imagined that such student exchange programs help students in so many ways to get independent and stand on their own feet. I strongly recommend that who ever gets such a chance to participate in a exchange programme must definitely give it a try. It will help you develop as a Leader.!!

USAID's 'Links to Learning' Program selected 18 male and female students from Middle and Secondary schools of FATA (Pakistan) and sent them to the U.S. for a 2 week exchange visit. As cultural ambassadors and future leaders in their community, students from FATA learnt about use of computers and communications technology, observed best practices in American schools and formed long-lasting friendships. The experience is helping these students see their education in new way, where they take leadership roles in their schools and change cultural perceptions. USAID has sent more than a 100 male and female students to the U.S. since 2008 from Sindh, Balochistan, rural areas around Islamabad and FATA.

A very warm welcome to the U.S. students here in sunny Singapore! These five students are among the first batch of U.S. students in Singapore under the US-Singapore Summer Exchange Scholarship Programme. The scholarship program seeks to promote greater interaction and mutual understanding between the next generation of Singaporeans and Americans, by allowing recipients to attend a university summer exchange program in each other’s countries. Check out some of the Singaporean students in the same scholarship program here: : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LWu34IQMw-o
