Economists on impact of no-deal Brexit
A group of Brexiteers have launched their proposals for a free trade agreement between the UK and EU, claiming it will produce the "most advanced and liberalising" conditions ever seen. (Subscribe: https://bit.ly/C4_News_Subscribe) The document, under the slogan 'A Better Deal', sets out a range of proposals with the aim of reducing trade and regulatory barriers. So is it realistic or pie in the sky? We speak to one of the authors of the proposed deal, the lawyer and lobbyist Shanker Singham, who has become a trade guru for Brexiteers, and David Henig, from the European Centre for International Political Economy. ------- Watch more of our explainer series here - https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list... Brexit - Causes and Consequences - Martin Wolf
In the wake of the Brexit vote, the UK and the EU are entering a period of prolonged uncertainty. Brexit happened partly because the British and wider European economies were struggling with the aftermath of the global financial crisis and a slowing global economy. But it has now made these economic challenges far more severe. Fears of a sharp slowdown loom over the UK economy. Meanwhile, the rest of the EU, already struggling with the eurozone crisis and the management of inward migration, has to forge a new relationship with a vital market, its leading financial centre, an essential security partner and an important link to the wider world. Martin Wolf, chief commentator on economics at the Financial Times, shared his perspective on the implications for Europe and the global economy. SUBSCRIBE to Arthur W. Le Brexit : conséquences économiques

Brexit: How 4 Experts Think It'll Impact Business
With Brexit day less than six months away and negotiators set to meet at the EU Summit this week, experts weigh in on how some sectors and the markets will be impacted by the split. The latest Brexit negotiations between the United Kingdom and the European Union remain at an impasse over the issue of the land border between Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. With leaders set to meet at the EU Summit on Wednesday in Brussels, the future of the so-called Withdrawal Agreement still hangs in the balance. If no deal is reached this week, a new emergency summit will be called for some time in mid-November. "Brexit is probably the most unwise economic position that Europe has taken in the last 20 years along with the U.K.," said Adidas CEO Kasper Rorsted in a CNBC interview on Oct. 9. "There's no doubt that the consumer will be impacted and the economy will be impacted in the U.K., in Europe, for all businesses, including ours." BREXIT - EU's Barnier WARNS Farage he must face consequences – 'No one is trying to undo the vote'
EU's chief Brexit negotiator has said Britain could stay in the EU to stop "the lose, lose" Brexit as the negotiator warned "anything is possible". The European Union’s chief Brexit negotiator told Nigel Farage toay he must face up to the consequences of Brexit and claimed the European Union is “not trying to steal” Britain’s exit from the bloc. "It is not Brussels that decided that the UK would leave the EU. You are the ones who have to take your responsibility and face up to the consequences of that decision. No one else." He said no one, not even Mr Farage, would be able to demonstrate the "added value of Brexit" adding: "It's a negative negotiaiton, it's a lose lose situation and as such we must find a solution to limit the damage caused." #Brexit #MichelBarnier #NigelFarage

Beyond Brexit: The consequences of Britain's great exit - Counting the Cost
Britain voted 'leave' last Thursday, opting to quit the 28-nation European Union in an historic move, ending its 43-year relationship with Europe. With results almost too close to call until the early hours of Friday morning, the decision to leave the EU is now preempted to have the biggest effect on the European - and in turn, global - financial system since the economic crisis of 2008. As and when Article 50 is activated - once Britain 'officially' notifies the European Union of its departure - a two-year separation process is set into motion, resulting in the final split. This is the first time that any nation has decided to leave the bloc, and questions about other countries participating in similar referendums have already been posed. But what does the leave campaign's victory actually mean for the global markets? How will the United Kingdom re-form itself, especially in light of Scotland's likely call for independence? The political consequences of Brexit
British voters decided to exit the EU in a referendum earlier this year, the so-called ‘Brexit’. The UK government has said that it plans to start formal negotiations by triggering Article 50 of the Lisbon Treaty by April next year. The European Ideas Network hosted a debate between MEPs, experts and academics about the political consequences of Brexit. EPP Group MEP Paulo Rangel was pessimistic about the negotiations and attacked the Conservative Party for its idea of compiling lists of foreign citizens in companies and universities.
