Gallup StrengthsFinder 'Harmony' Youth Video Resource by Strengths School Singapore
TRANSCRIPT: Hi, my name is Titus, and Harmony is one of my top 5 StrengthsFinder themes. I'm one who loves peace and teamwork. It energizes me when people are in agreement, and gets me really uncomfortable when there is a confrontation or a conflict. My Harmony theme seeks to build unity while minimizing any form of friction. It isn't about conforming to others but helping everyone see eye-to-eye. I enjoy team sports where everyone can come together to work towards a common goal. Even if we do not win, it feels great to have been part of a concerted effort. I really love the Harmony strength because it constantly reminds me that unity can be forged in diversity. As a student, there are many group assignments to be done. It is during group discussions where my Harmony plays out the most. During brainstorming, many ideas are generated and many ideas are also shot down. My Harmony allows me to remind everyone that we are on the same boat and helps to ensure that discussion remains objective and constructive. I truly enjoy and appreciate this strength of mine because it allows me to relate and work better with the people around me. Ultimately, you can count on me to keep a group of people united and moving to the same beat. Strengths School: http://www.strengthsschool.com Presenting Strengthsfinder Talent Theme 'Harmony' by Titus Cheong from Singapore. This video is part of a larger Strengthsfinder 34 themes Youth Video Resources series by Strengths School™ Singapore. The purpose of this video series is to bring greater awareness of how the Gallup Strengthsfinder talent themes are manifested in the life of youths and to bring new perspectives. We believe in helping young people build their self-confidence through growing their natural talents while managing their weaknesses. This approach will strengthen and further shape their identity. This entire StrengthsFinder 34 talent theme video series is done by interviewing 34 different young people in Singapore and these are the video products of Strengths School™. All copyrights for the 34 Strengthsfinder talent themes belong to Gallup. YOUTH GROUP GAMES: Protect the President
Protect the President is an easy game to play at your next youth group! PLAYERS: 8+ EQUIPMENT: 1 dodgeball RULES: 1. All players stand in a large circle. 2. Choose two players to stand in the center of the circle: player 1 will be the president and player 2 will be the bodyguard. 3. The players forming the circle will try to hit the president with the ball. 4. They can throw the ball at the president or pass it to someone else in the circle. 5. All players, aside from the president and bodyguard, are not allowed to move from their positions. 6. The president stays in the center and tries to dodge the ball. 7. The job of the bodyguard is to protect the president from being hit. 8. Once the president is hit the bodyguard becomes the new president and the person who threw the ball becomes the new bodyguard. 9. Game play never stops, so transitions between new presidents and new bodyguards must be quick or else players will easily eliminate the new president. 10. You can play for a certain time limit, or until a certain number of presidents have been eliminated. Determine which team of bodyguard and president can last the longest in the circle. 11. Add a second ball for difficulty Music: www.bensound.com

YOUTH GROUP GAMES: Life-Size Warship
Life-Size Warship is a fun game to play at your next youth group with just a little bit of preparation! PLAYERS: 8+ EQUIPMENT: 1 dogeball // dividers (table tennis tables, rope with sheets draped across, tables, etc.) // paper or masking tape // pens // 2 strategy guide printouts RULES: 1. Divide players into two, equal teams. 2. Assign one person from each team to be the Attacker, and give that person a battle-plan sheet and a pen. 3. The other players will serve as ships and lie down across the coordinates of their choice. Players can only lie horizontally and vertically. 4. The Attackers then take turns throwing the ball over the barricade onto the opposing team’s playing field. 5. Attackers may choose to forfeit their throw and guess a coordinate on which they believe a ship is located. A leader must confirm whether that coordinate was a hit or miss. 6. A leader will call out the coordinate on which the ball lands on every play. The leader needs to specify whether it was a hit or miss, and give the name of the player who was hit. 7. The opposing Attacker should fill out the battle-plan sheet accordingly. 8. A ship is sunk when each coordinate has been hit. 9. To win, a team must eliminate all ships from the opponent’s side. Mixteco Indigena Community Organizing Project - Tequio Youth Group Video (Indigenous Student Group)
Tequio (from the Nahuatl word "Tequitl", which means "work" or "tribute") refers to the organized form of work done for the collective benefit of a community. Tequio essentially consists of the various duties and resources each member of a community must contribute for the construction of a public project, such as a school, a road, a well, or any other necessity. In this case, our community is working to construct: Justice, Respect, and Equality for Indigenous Communities. Tequio Youth Group is a Ventura County organization comprised of indigenous youth. This youth group is part of the Mixteco Indigena Community Organizing Project, or MICOP. Tequio Youth Group started in November, 2010, with the goal of creating youth leaders. Currently, an average of 15 students (ranging from elementary school to college as well as a diverse spectrum of community members) attend weekly meetings every Monday evening from 6-8 p.m. Here, Tequio Youth Group plan and organize ways in which our various aims can be achieved. The four aims or objectives of Tequio Youth Group are as follows: Aim # 1 To reduce discrimination against the Oaxaqan and Indigenous communities in Ventura County. Focusing primarily within the educational sphere, Tequio seeks to prevent discrimination through the implementation of a policies that prohibit the use of terms such as "Oaxaquita" or "indito" which are used disparagingly against people of "indigenous complexions". Aim # 2 Strengthen our indigenous identity through community dialogues and presentations focusing on indigenous history, folklore, culture, tradition, gastronomy, cosmology, and language. Aim # 3 Inform the Oaxacan and Indigenous community about the importance of education as well as informing the community about the variety of institutions and organizations that provide monetary assistance for students who wish to pursue higher education. Aim # 4 To develop youth leadership and to create youth leaders who are capable of informing, motivating, and influencing the Oaxacan community in the realms of laboral and educational empowerment. Live Different Lesson 1 Preview- by Youth Ministry 360
Today's teenager lives in a hyper-sexualized culture. And while sexual immorality is an almost timeless struggle, the world your students live in seems to take the glamorization of sex to unprecedented levels. Culture calls teenagers to live a life where sexual activity and sexual expression is a vital part of their identity. But the Bible challenges your students to embrace God's view of sex and sexuality, to rise above the message of culture and to instead live holy lives . . . In short, the Bible calls your students to Live Different. Live Different, one of the 4-lesson studies in the Edge line of curriculum, teaches your students God's intent for sex and how God views sex outside of this intent. Most importantly, Live Different will help you challenge your students with God's call to live a life of holiness in a world of sexual immorality. Live Different is ideal for: •Your weekly large group youth gathering •Small group Bible studies •Sunday mornings •Weekend retreats, and much more Product Features: •4 Lesson plans complete with Bible Background •Media!
